The use of a Tardis could have caused great confusion.
Day 1:
A to B: There seems to be a problem with the bank. Let's
jump in the Tardis and go back a week and withdraw our
hard-earned money.
B: OK.

Day -6:
A and B withdraw all their cash and return to the Tardis
singing "There may be trouble ahead,...".
Day 2:
B to A: It looks like we were right to get all our money
out.
A: Yes, along with the other ten thousand people who
hitched a lift in the Tardis. I wonder what the bank's
problem is?
