I have some questions about the above sentence:
1.Can the "limiting" be replaced by the word "limitation"? Or why
the "limiting" is better than "limitation"?
A limiting is the act of putting limits on something or reducing its
scope. A limitation can mean that too, but is likely to mean
something more substantial, some factor that puts limits on the thing
under discussion. I think "limiting" is better in this context, but
you could use "limitation", if you didn't mind the repetition of
sounds (limitaSHUN of our attenSHUN).
2. Is "so much as" a phrase or "not...so much" a phrase?
Yes, "not...so much as...": not A so much as B, or not so much A as
B.
