(That particular one is quite comical; the interviewers are trying to trick the subject into saying certain words, but the subject sounds a bit puzzled why they are asking such daft questions.)

Thanks John for the suggestion. It came to me that I should look in RealPlayer to see which audio types were associated with it. Sure enough, RealPlayer was selected to play wma files. After unchecking wma files on RealPlayer, Windows Media Player opened the audio files and the distorted audio was gone.
