The main difference, I think, is that "CV" is used (in the UK, at
least), to cover both types of document.

So is this an example of the "Cherries" discussion, without leaving
English? In the US/Canada, we see a difference between a resume and a
CV, while in the UK, they don't?

Not exactly, "Résumé" in this sense isn't a standard part of BrE, where it
means simply a summary e.g. of proceedings or discussion, and usually
retains its French accents. The word baffled me when I first met it in the
sort-of-cv sense.

owing to a surfeit of humidity.
Substances possessed of an extremely low pH can, in
some instances, leave unsightly marks upon surfaces,
And use of pharmaceuticals contravening their intended
application has been known to trigger unpleasant
gastric side effects.

Statutes exist to prohibit the unregistered ownership
of firearms by many members of the public,
Topological manipulation of plant fibers as a prelude
to asphyxiation suffers from the limitations of
the preparer's skills.
Inhalation or other ingestion of noxious fumes is an
aesthetic affront to the olfactory sense,
