He signed everything "DR Jones." ...
As it turned out his full name was Dale Robert Jones.

I worked part-time as a student assistant for Dr. Brad N. Bunnell at
the Univ. of Florida psych department. He sent me to the then brand-
new J. Hillis Miller Medical School to learn how to use a Grass Model
IV electroencephalograph. At that time Dr. Wilhelm Schmidt was head of
the neurology department. He later became the provost of that Med
School. Dr. Schmidt had two assistants, Dean West and Kaye White, who
actually provided my instruction. I noticed that all of the neurology
department's requisitions for equipment and supplies were signed
by ... Dean West. Deans were treated better than mere doctors.
