True, but an understandable phonetic spelling, as dropping the
"a" is very common.

If it's phonetic, I would expect to see "tempramental" more
often. Or am I unusual in pronouncing it that way?

I don't think it's unusual, but I think both the "tempra-" and
"temper-" pronunciations are pretty common.

(What I think *would* be fairly unusual would be a full five-syllable
pronunciation.)
