Re: And AGAIN Google screwed up

And (to David) I do have site validation software installed. I can
see the search beginning to start and then a slight pause as some sort
of redirection takes me to a site which is not the URL I clicked on.
What's more, I can't escape back to the Google list by pressing the
browser's 'back' button. The invalid site simply keeps reappearing. If
my machine has some sort of infection it's one that none of the
software I own or have tried online can detect.

There's some evil Web virus thingies that take control like that, and
even post mimic warning messages saying that you have to click OK to
their supposed software tools to clean up the problem! If you say yes,
you'll be worse off, with things popping up uncontrollably. Better to
escape your browser or shut off your power than say OK to that.

So far, the remedy I've found when infected is to delete all my file of
Cookies (I have notes about logon passwords), set the cookie preferences
to "ask for each site," and accept only my favorites, declining all
unfamiliar looking names. It means a lot of accepting and declining of
cookies, but it has kept that problem at bay. If anyone has a simpler
solution, do tell.

This only happens for Google-generated links, ones that are perfectly
valid -- Wikipedia entries, for example. Links provided by hon
members of aue connect perfectly well.

Google seems to be completely fucked up.

I think this virus has little to do with Google. But yes, for some kind
of searches (like song lyrics) the first few results should be avoided
as they are more likely to spew this infectious garbage and to have very
little useful content.
