In the US, it was 47.3 at birth in 1900. 46.3 for boys, 48.3 for
girls. 47.6 for whites, 33.0 for blacks. (For black boys it was
32.5.) At least for the ten states and DC that the CDC has data on.

for white males, you don't get to "three score and ten" for those
living to 20 until 1959-1961. For non-white males, you don't get
there until 1997! And it's still only 71.4. (75.7 for white males,
80.8 for white females, and 76.5 for non-white females.)

At age 10 (e.g., infant and early childhood deaths), white males get
there in 1979-1981, and non-white males get there, again, in 1997. At
birth, white males get there in 1979-1981, and non-white males still
hadn't gotten there by 2004. (The last entry is 69.8). On the other
hand, non-white females have had a longer life expectancy at birth
than white males since the end of the '60s.
