Okay, there's some overlap in habitat between some species of deer
and tigers.
C'mon, that's a bit grudging:
http://www.seaworld.org/infobooks/Tiger/diettiger.html
A tiger's favorite prey is deer and wild boar. Deer species may
include sambar, chital, sika deer, swamp deer, and hog deer, among
others.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siberian_Tiger
Like all other cats, the Amur Tiger is a carnivorous predator; an
adept hunter, it preys primarily on red deer, wild boar, roe deer,
sika deer, and goral, but will also take smaller prey like lagomorphs
(hares, rabbits, and pikas) and fish, including salmon.
http://www.thebigzoo.com/Animals/Sumatran_Tiger.asp
(Sumatran) tigers eat mostly sambar, chital, Red deer, Swamp deer,
Rusa deer, and Wild pigs.
http://www.geocities.com/RainForest/3785/bengaltiger.html
The (Bengal) tiger attacks a variety of prey, mainly deer, antelopes,
pigs and buffalo.
Also, the geographic range of tigers was historically a lot greater than
it is now. Wikipedia has a map showing the range in 1900:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiger#Biology_and_ecology
but even that is small compared to their range at the end of the last
ice age. I can't see a map of that online anywhere, but I guess it would
have taken in most of the range of the majority of deer species.
