I wonder if the jump from present perfect tense to future tense
in: "Since I've checked into the hotel, I'll go to the convention
center." might be too much (for some of you).
I recognise these as the present perfect tense and the future
tense as you stated. To me the sentence is correct tense-wise and
sounds 'okay', however I'd improve it slightly to:
"Since I've now checked into the hotel I'll go to the convention
centre."
Alternatively (my preference): "Now that I've checked into the
hotel I'll go...."
'now' is to help with clarity and the flow of speech by indicating
a time focus. Without it 'Since' in the first clause can make you
think it is about to lead to some kind of defensive position eg
'Since I've done that you can't kick me out'.
Extraneous points that haven't been asked but were noticed:
Note 1: I've removed the comma because it is unnessary
particularly in a short sentence. However it is a matter of style.
I disagree and I think Skitt will too.
Note 2: I use 'centre' but this depends on regional difference and
preference.
Nothing to discuss there.
Note 3: If it is a specific and name-specified convention centre
with the words 'Convention Centre" in it I'd capitalise. Again
this is subject to regional usage.
No argument there either.
