That nearly cracked me up! My eyes are still damp and I can't stop
laughing. There ought to be a vote for 'The most humorous post of the
month' (Monthly Crack Po(s)t?.
(Still laughing) I understood the meaning perfectly, I think, and
immediately pictured the graph. Being from a technical background it
seems normal but I can understand how awkward/gobbledygook it can
sound. Hahahahahaha....
Try "Daily mean relative humidity, averaged monthly over 2005".
(Note: Even in the original title I would use 'averaged'.)
If you wish to emphasise or draw attention to the variation you could
add 'Variation of' in front. I suspect the target readers would not
need that, the graph will speak for itself.
For 10 years this would change to "....over 10 years" or state specific
years.
When I calm down from laughing I might think about the usage of
'annual', 'annually', and 'yearly'.
Thanks!!
