Now, call me a bit of a stickler if you like, but when did science become a
democracy?

Ever since the International Astrologers' Union, or whatever pouncy name they've cooked up for themselves, decided to float what they imagined was a trebles-all-round absolutely wizard spiffing wheeze and discovered that naming planets isn't a science. The people of earth have rights in these matters. Pluto is a really big piece of real estate. If you think big and double it, you get an idea of just how big Pluto is. It's even bigger than Texas.

It belongs to all the people of earth. Taking away our ball is a disgraceful abrogation of our human rights and is a bad idea. For the IAU to hold their knees-up in Prague is a jolly good idea. Fabulous night clubs and the local police run some really tasty boys who, for a consideration, will let you call their balls whatever you wish.

... Radio Free Earth ... If you tied a string to the top of your hat and placed it on your head, then tied it to a point on a ball at a 23.5 degree angle aimed away from you, then tied a rope to the ball and held the other end in your hands, and spun around in a circle, the angle would remain the same no matter how fast you spun around the room. ... The angle would stay the same throughout, even if you made the path elliptical, although the ball would stretch outward further the faster that you spin. ...
