I don't imagine it's there in a quantity detectable by anything much
short of gas chromatography. Proteins cause hazes in beer and wine, so
they're pretty rigorously excluded. If you get signs and symptoms when
you eat the wrong stuff, I suppose the interests of science would allow
you to take increasing doses to see what happens. I'll be delighted to
provide a pint or so of reagent for this controlled experiment next
time I'm in Manc. We could get the Nobel for this.
