In casual conversation I'd say,"I just paid two ninety four a gallon"
(how fitting that you should pick that amount).

However, if I were in a business setting, I'd quote something like this
to a customer: "The fee is two dollars and ninety four cents," just
to remove any doubt.


By the way, how are you quoting the year --two thousand six, two
thousand and six, or twenty oh six? I mean, ya know.....
