For some reason, my MIL can never open the door of our downstairs lavatory and is frequently reduced to knocking on the door to be released. I'm desperately waiting for an occasion when my own mother is having similar difficulty in the family bathroom and a.n.other old lady in our en-suite bathroom. But it'll never happen.

But if it did, you surely wouldn't be so cruel as to keep them there

from Monday to Saturday, would you?

Maybe. Maybe not.

(Dammit, I'm nearly old enough to qualify. I'd better remember not to
visit you.)

Disregarding your age, you'd have to be accompanied by two others of similar ilk who were unable to release themselves from the confines of the bathroomy locations. It'll never happen, so you're safe and welcome - we have rather a lot of barbecue fodder left over from last week (safely frozen).

The three old ladies were all locked in together, weren't they? At future boinks I think the Katies and I had better be rather careful...

I fear you are insufficiently elderly. Nobody counts as an "old lady" unless they are at least my mother's age. This is, of course, a moveable feast, but you are on the youthful side of it and will remain there, so fear not.

Ah, nice use of "fear" there. But when does middle age end and elderness begin?
