I'm not either but I do wonder about the nature of revelation. It looks to me as if most religions are really about the exercise of power or resistance to it.
The driving forces of all religions and supermarket chains are spiritual and, as you say, the exercise of power. The spiritual is to ensure that the faithful continue to pass through the doors and put money in the tills or collection plates.
