Unfortunately, yes. I dislike this usage of the term "below" but
I've seen it a number of times before. If I were writing something
I would use "in a few chapters" or an expression like that instead
of "below".

Some publishers (I am working on a book for one right now) actually
forbid "above" & "below" with reference to position in the text. They
have a point, tho I think they overdo it by making it an absolute
taboo. It is generally more helpful to the reader to be more specific
("in Chapter 6", "in the next paragraph", "throughout this book",
etc.).
