Hi, I am a Chinese boy, I want to get an English name. My friends
suggest me Kevin or Vincent. I can't decide which to use.
I think Kevin is sound simply, euphonious, easy to remember. But it is
too many people use it.
Vincent is a little elegant, such painter Vincent Van Gogh. But it
sound not power or shorter than Kevin.
Does anybody can give some suggestion?
Previously, I had use Hanks as my english id, for i like the actor Tom
Hanks. Later I find it is a surname. Then I had use Lawrence, a classic
english name. But i find it is not easy for my friends to remember it,
maybe it is too long. so i give up it.
Nothing wrong with using a surname as a given name...it's a popular choice for
Western parents naming a child, particularly in the last twenty years or so....
You can even us something that's not a personal name at all...recently
celebrities have been naming their children things like Apple and Moxie...even
famous Chinese people do this when they pick Western names; I don't know where
the singer Eason Chan came up with his....
Is it important to you that your Western name closely resemble your Chinese
name?...closest one I could suggest if that's the case is Sean (or the
alternative spelling Shawn)....r
