As you say. I didn't even notice, although I did have "sans face,
sans modesty" there at one point, and changed it. It still sounds all
right to me, though, maybe because the pauses preserve the timing.

There's a word I've been trying to remember for substituting a pause
for a syllable, or maybe for a foot, in a line, but it won't come to
mind. No, not dementia.

The only phrase I know for it is "metrical pause".
