Rumsfeld today, in answer to questions at the National Press Club,
again repeated the canard that Hitler was elected. He was not, as far
as I know.

Rumsfeld's point, an attempt to soften the impact of recent elections
in Iraq and Chile, was that democracies sometimes elect bad people who
lead their nations to war.

I'm not sure I get your point. He did come to power democratically,
even if he didn't have a clear majority.
