I agree.  For me your example is almost (but not quite) as bad as "as 
far as" without the "is concerned".

I wonder if there is a word for the halved minimum pair ("from"  without 
"to". . .) or lost comparative.  Something like 
multiplier/multiplicand--or is that a halfactor?
