I find that some bones found in Rome in 1802 were assumed, on bad
archaeological evidence, to be those a martyred Filumena/Philomena. A
parish priest near Naples got the bones, and a popular cult, complete
with miracles, developed; but it was never official, and the Church
ordered it to stop in 1961. The indecent haste with which Mother
Church now seems to canonize people leads me to wonder if she'll get
restored as soon as some rich Neapolitan decides to take up her
cause.
