Of course, but this is AUE where words are important. I thought my
reply was mildly amusing and therefore worthy of the slight effort
involved in actually typing it. And being silly is one of the things
I do best.

Nope, sorry, I can just about read Catalan by reference to French and
Latin but I've never learned to speak any. The French are not
terribly interested in Catalan and we are perhaps 25 miles too far
from the Pyrenees for our village to use the language. But all the
local guide leaflets are in French, Spanish and Catalan.

I disagree there - multiple languages gives us variety. Certainly
there are hundreds of thousands of native Welsh speakers. I have a
friend, now 50, who didn't encounter English until she went to Junior
School at the age of 8.

Please accept that it's done with no malice and in most cases from a
love of English rather than with any reference to you personally.
