If you mean the sort of "why" with a comma, as in

Why, I ought to knock your block off.

Then yes, it does sound a little bit old-fashioned. Like using "Say," in
a simimilar fashion. I'd expect to hear both in movie dialog from the
1930s-40s.

"Tuckered out" sounds *more* old-fashioned -- it sounds rural.

Why do you ask, may I ask?
