Practically:
He's asking to drive them into town. He's being indirect, thus politer than
if he'd asked "Will you drive us into town?" or "Can you drive us into
town?". Casual, as it were.

Literally:
Does "might" mean "would you be able to?", "would you be allowed to?", "is
there any chance that you...?" etc.?
