There is a long tradition of "one" being used in this way more in
Britain than in America. The only time it really bothers me is when
someone follows "one" with "they." Although "they" is pretty routinely
treated these days as singular in many contexts, "one" is so
emphatically singular that referring back to it with "they" seems
incongruous to me.
"If one dislikes ads, they shouldn't watch the Super Bowl."
