There are several places in Windows where the settings can cause the
system to show everything too large. It might also be something corrupt
in the Windows display driver or in the hardware for the video card. You
might try reinstalling generic drivers, finding out how to delete the
drivers you have installed for video. Make sure you have the right
normal drivers to fix it. If the monitor displays right *before* you get
into Windows or while in the BIOS, it's not the monitor although the
fact that it seems to be going into another mode should be illustrative.
Boot to DOS and run some DOS app that uses different modes and see if
everything is normal. I expect it's your settings in Windows or the
display driver.
