This is theoretically possible, more or less, but it requires that your
users be a. using Windows, b. using Internet Explorer, and c. extremely
stupid. The default behavior of IE when an executable link is clicked is
indeed to download it to a temporary directory and run it, but no sane
person actually allows it to do this, as it's a horrible security risk.
The correct solution is use some form of web slideshow tool, like a
JavaScript or a Java applet.
