Lightning is one reason why I use Tosh-link (optical) between S.R.S
and other sensitive components(Dish, HDTV, etc). Think of the SRS

The flash and thunder appeared to be simultaneous, which places it within
250 ft.
The EMP from that can burn out lots of things and
can easily bypass any "surge arrester" so
Avoid ground loops and use optical connections whenever possible;
