So I got my dad a 40" Sony TV. They make an annoying sound when
they are turned on.
I want to update the software so I can turn the sound off.
But even though the USB stick that I bought can be read by the
TV (Pictures on it show up), the software update won't begin.
I even called up the customer service phone number and they
said I did everything correctly.
They are sending a USB stick with the software on it.

I wonder why my stick won't work.
Is this a normal problem?

With Sony?, yes i might expect all kinds of trouble and
very soon after the warranty expired it will break down.
