New to HDMI question.
My setup is this:
Verizon/FIOS cable from Motorola QIP7100 I box. (yes there is what
looks like an 'I' after the model no.)
HANNS-G HG-216DPB LCD monitor.
IOGear 3-Port HDMI Switch (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/
B0028MF260/ref=ox_ya_oh_product)
Gateway T-1616 laptop with HDMI output port.
I first connected the laptop to the monitor with the included VGA
cable and all worked pretty well.
When the HDMI switch and cables arrived, I connected the laptop to the
monitor and obtained an image, although it sometimes blinks out for a
moment. I discovered that this is probably due to HDCP
incompatibilities.
After connecting the cable box to the monitor I managed to get an
image after shutting down monitor and STB. I'd lose the image after
switching the input or powering down one of the components.
Trying to solve this issue, I reset to factory defaults in the monitor
menu. Since then, I cannot get any image at all from the STB. The
laptop still works, with periodic blinking.
I've referred to the QIP user manual which says to power down the QIP
then press the 'menu' button on the front panel. This will give some
access to the QIP settings where I reset them to defaults. All that
pressing the 'menu' button does, however, is turn the unit back on.
The LCD display of the STB, when it is powered on, blinks 'dui' or
'dvi' from time to time. I understand this means it recognizes the
monitor connection and is having difficulty with it.
I will, of course, contact Verizon about this as soon as I can but
since it is the weekend, and I would *really* like to see some HDTV, I
am asking here as well.
