Per Larrybud:
Can't do it wirelessly?
I've got "N" wireless that's running at 65 mbps and it is not
enough to support HD resolution.
OTOH, it works a-ok with MP4 files which render quite well on my
9" laptop. On a 1600 x 1200 monitor, the picture is somewhat
less sharp than digital TV, but nothing I couldn't live with -
especially since most of my viewing is talk shows.
Sage does not currently provide for automatic transcoding,
although MythTV does. My intent long term is to record
everything in HD and then mirror it to MP4 by running a scheduled
batch file that transcodes to MP4. That way somebody using the
little 9" laptop has complete access to recorded programs.
Does the media extender box have a hard drive built in?
I don't think so. The claim is "totally silent". Got two of
them arriving early this week so I'll know for sure then. I'll
also be interested to measure the power consumption.
