future;-)

Blipvert? That's good. I like that. :)

Sounds like this is the first time you've heard the term,
probably
because you don't watch the kinds of shows the rest of us do.
Max
Headroom had some good satire about the way the world is
headed,
particularly television, where they had instant, continuous
ratings so
that if a show wasn't doing well they'd cancel it in
mid-program and
put on something they hoped would do better. I think the
series would
have been better without the title character, but that's just
me. I'd
watch it again if Retro or someone would run it.

Yep, 'twas Max's cohorts and their Canadian creators who deserve
credit for "blipverts." I'm glad to read there are still those
who recall the show which was destroyed by it's ABC acquisition,
or perhaps the vast American audience being annoyed with its
finger poking concept regarding TV and those who watch it.
Though it painted a picture of net execs many of us would
suspect as close to, but not up to, the truth;-) Max's
portrayal of a news reporter was a perfect counterpoint, as he
played against the Roone Arlidge-like creation of entertainment
disguised as news. Hmmmm, come to think of it, wasn't Roone the
recently appointed head of news at ABC about the time that Max
came to the US?

Hey, I hope y'all had a pleasant and uninterrupted-by-law
enforcement New Year's Eve! Happy New Year everyone.
