I am just wondering about these specific TVs (32") and - if someone just
wants to watch TV - will the picture look as good as the more expensive
TVs.
Will it last as long? Are the colours as accurate, the contrast as
contrasty, the sound as good. Are the remote controls worse on the lower
end TVs?

Go to the Sony website and compare the specs of the KDL-32L4000 and the
other 32" sets. Then go to a store and check for yourself whether you think
the set looks good.

I don't think there is any known difference in reliability of the sets
(there may be a difference, but the expensive sets are not necessarily the
most reliable ones).
