The BX-1 and the 350 are identical in appearance and functionality. Their instruction manuals are identical. The only difference is the BX-1 includes an HDMI cable and comes with a lifetime guarantee!(at Costco) I returned my BX-1 to Costco after 4 months. I had many problems with it that the firmware upgrades didn't fix(3 of them!). Also neither one will do slow motion or frame by frame. I bought a Panasonic DMP-BD35 and I love it! It loads quickly and has all the latest features. It lists for $300 but I got it for $250 at Magnolia. The BD35 and the BD55 are the same except for the 5.1 audio output connectors on the 55 and the 55 is $100 more.

Instruction manual? Appearance? Sure they look the same - they're expected to. To know if any differences exist you gotta go under the skin or inside the chips. A little more plastic here... a little more there... don't take too much of that to have a different model number, and a cheaper product with less durability or less features. An extra lifetime-guaranteed cable doesn't equal a different model number. Sorry, I wouldn't know about any firmware problems with my real BD player, and it does slo-mo and frame-by-frame advance just fine. Maybe the BX-1 was cheaper because it was defeatured? See, you people come in here trying to make others believe there's some sort of scam goin on, and while that has happened, you want to paint all other 'deals' with the same brush. "Save all your money and get the cheap stuff!" Okay fine, do that, but as is so often heard... you get what you pay for. Costco is a good shop with a good reputation, and I wouldn't suspect a scam with them, but there's a reason why the BX-1 is cheaper.
