There were two 24-26 inch new sets , one a Samsung monitor, one a

that I
really don't need or want a HDTV now as I have massive amounts
of tape
that would not be helped by the high def feature and that I would
want a
top name 40 inch or larger set with a 5ms or better response
time, I
chose a 80gb PS3 even though I'm not getting maximum value from
the
coupon. My other best choice would have been to throw in another
$500 or
so to get a good sized quality set. Anyway thanks for all the
good
advise I've received here. In general is it a good idea to buy a
good
quality HDTV on ebay ?....seems about a 25-30 % savings over
retail.....almost all the sets on ebay are not the top of the
heap in
specs, but some are. SD

In my opinion, it's not a good idea to buy anything more than
trinkets
from eBay because it's nothing more than a pumped-up garage sale.
What
you get is a crap shoot, if not stolen.

I've bought several video cards, 2 Technics receivers, 4 motherboards,
2 Athlon processors, a Kodak digital camera, 2 ATI HDTV Wonder cards,
2 laser printers, 5 Metcal soldering irons, 3 Fluke 8060a meters, an
Ampex ATR-102 head, and many used CDs. Like everything else, you need
to know how to shop and spot the shady sellers and don't get into
bidding contests. Just wait for the next item.

The 'worst' buy was a damaged ATI 9600 Pro video card that the seller
intentionally sold bad and tried to make USPS take the hit. When I
called ATI and gave them the serial number, they said it was under
warranty and exchanged it for a new one.

I have very little fear of eBay and have a rating of 382, all
positive.
