All I care about are programs like Hogan's Heroes, Gilligan's Island,
Beverly Hillbillies, and Perry Mason. These were shot on film.
And most of Star Gate SG-1 was shot on film (a few parts in video).
I already have all 10 seasons in SD on DVD. If they remaster the film
to 1080p24 on BR, I might think about getting a BR player. I'd go for
ST:TNG and ST:Voyager, too (I'm guessing they are film).
Stargate: SG-1 has a complicated history because the first 5 seasons
were produced for and aired on Showtime. Then they moved to Sci-Fi and
shot on film for seasons 6 & 7. I think they switched to HD 1080/24p
video cameras for season 8 and thereafter. What is not clear is whether
HD masters already exists for the first 7 seasons or not. I have seen
claims that HD masters exist for the entire 10 season run, not just the
last 3 seasons. But the CGI shots for the first 6-7 seasons will very
likely be 16:9 SD upconverted to HD.
ST: TNG and ST: Voyager were certainly shot on film, but the CGI for
those shows was likely done on SD video and the shows were edited on
video. Will take time and money to remaster them in proper HD, hopefully
maintaining the proper 4:3 OAR. Still, would not be surprised if
Paramount was doing this for future over-priced Blu-ray box sets. Got to
milk the Star Trek franchise for the last possible dollar.
