This is SIMPLE!!! Hook up the Right connection to Right, and Left to
Left. That's it! The Left would be the TV's Left speaker if you are
looking at the TV screen, and Right would be the Right speaker on the TV
when your looking at your TV screen.
This is different then for example the Left and Right side of a Car, where
you are sitting in the seat and you have the left and right as the same as
your own left and right side. Not standing in front of the car and then
reversing it, where left is now on the passenger side and right being the
drivers side. That's wrong.
For TV's. your PC monitor, whatever, Left has always been the left side of
the screen when looking at it. Your making it harder then it needs to
be, Match the colors of the plugs up! Red to Red, Blue to Blue, Green to
Green for Component Video and for sound Red to Red (Which should be Right
Audio!) and White to White (Which should be Left Audio) If your using a
Optical connection (Toslink), you can't screw that up unless you have the
speaker wires not hooked up correctly to your receiver. Again, if your
sitting on the sofa for example, looking at your TV, Left is YOUR LEFT
Front and Back, and the same with RIGHT! If your using HDMI, you can't
screw up your Video or Audio connections, again unless your wired up your
speakers to a Surround sound receiver wrong! If your just using the Built
in speakers of your TV using HDMI then it's pretty much impossible to
screw up your video or audio.
There's no hooking up Red to White and White to Red, that's WRONG.
If your using a Surround Sound receiver you should be able to test it to
make sure it's connected. It will show on the screen LF or whatever and
your hear Static coming out of that speaker and it'll go though each of
your different speakers. Not only so to can make sure it's hooked up
right, but so it can be adjusted to sound right for the room it's in and
the position of the speakers. You may also if just using your TV
speakers, while watching whatever, adjust the volume from center all the
way to the left to all the way to the right if you have that feature. If
you turn it all the way to the left and yet the sound is coming out of the
right speaker, it's not hooked up right. There's also DVD's you can buy
which can help you adjust your Video and Audio setup.
Now I can see why they don't try and explain it in instruction manuals.
