A few yeas ago I had a similar problem crop up with an old CRT analog set, and the repair person said the degaussing coil or the driver circuit had gone fishing permanently. As it turned out, the circuit board for it was a simple fix. Afterward, I gave the set to my sis and she still uses it now three years later. Had it been the coil itself it would've been a different kettle.
