Just curious how many people buy raw coax and tools to
put connectors on them to make their own coax cable
runs?
Or do you just buy them-made with connectors on them
and use couplers if needing extra pre-?
Depends on the run.
All of my longer inter-room cabling was done with home terminated ends and
raw coax.
All of my back of the closet/back of the set patch cables are factory made.
Why?
1. cost, long run pre-mades are expensive and don't come in the length I
need.
2. ease of running, running a terminated coax in your walls is a genuine
pain
3. free cables... so many of VCR's and gizmo's I have purchased over the
years have short 1-6 foot F terminated coaxes that they were "free".
Buy professional real stripping and termination tools $30-50 bux total to
set you up, not crap tools from Radio Shack. If minimum wage cable guys can
do it, so can you!
