Comcast has no digital channels, at least not in NJ. I use an outside antenna for my HD channels and feed the basic Comcast through the VCR into one of my AVI inputs. I then select the Comcast channels with the VCR remote. It works great.

Cass:
Have you done an autoscan with the set top box bypassed and the input to the TV set to Cable (not Antenna)? You might be interested with the odd situation at my friend's house.
Back on January 1, I started a thread called "Autoscan doesn't find digital broadcast channels." Briefly, my friend lives in Colonia (Woodbridge) and subscribes to Comcast's Digital Preferred. Of the three HDTV brands I tried connecting directly to the cable - i.e., bypassing the set top box - only the LG detected digital channels. (The Toshiba and Vizio didn't; don't ask me why. All three have ATSC and QAM tuners.)
The LG plays over 40 digital channels, starting as low as 4-1 (NBC-HD)and going to at least 106-1 (which is WLIW21). Some are OTA; others are cable channels (ESPN on 104-9, Weather (105-10), Bravo (105-2), History 100-4).There are probably lots more; I got tired of listing them.
