Every protestant with respect for himself will off course hate himself. So off course Blu-Ray is the leader of the Sony Playstation pack! Being chosen by US selfhaters.;-)
So I, an EU-ropean from Denmark,- will, like we stood side by side with our US allies in Iraq and Afghanistan, defend the all-american format HD DVD!
And why? Becourse it is the best! Like anything else-the best ideas come from the US-be it produced in China!;-)
HD-DVD is universal region! There are no region codes! There are only one optional encryption compared with Blu-ray which have the same -but forced encryption and two more DRM encryptions than HD-DVD has (plus region codes!) One of them a physical "thumb-print" in the disc itself.
And then there is the data layer-My Good! Why has no red blooded american spotted the catastrophical Physical construction of the Blu-ray slate?:
HD-DVD uses a 0.6 mm-thick surface layer, while Blu-ray has a much smaller 0.1mm layer, enabling the laser to focus its larger 0.85 aperture.
So when you one day evolve to burning your own- there will be only 0.1 mm between your data and the data loss! Where as HD DVD has a rock solid 0.6 mm protection layer.
Blu-Ray has had to enforce the 0.1 mm layer just to make it work without insertion into a cassette!
One layer of HD DVD slate can hold 15 Gig of data. Duallayer 30 Gigabyte and 3 layer 51 Gigabyte. That has from the start resultet in the fact that every HD DVD is made with the best encryptions AVS which is MS wmv9 and H.264. while many Blu-Ray has not moved from the old mpeg2 encryption "Well we had so much space you see, so we did not bother with the encryption!"
HD DVD has a wider variety of better sound than Blu-Ray! Just more new Dolby!;-) HD DVD has a more modern and advanced variety of Menu options, and when the day comes You can use all that beautifull variety for your own movies. Blu-Ray have to stick to the not so smart jawa menu system. This is enferior and a hard case to home production.
So I have done it! I have promoted my self-hating friends own Microsoft-Intel format. I am the first to do it, so I am a proud wiking!;-) Let the beating begin!;-)))
