Just curious if the HDTV channels had the capability of
transmitting in 1080p and/or does it only depend on the
recording.
i.e. Discovery Channel has some nice looking broadcasts and
some not so nice.
Probably wont see 1080p from OTA or cable/satellite providers
anytime soon.....the bandwidth required is just too demanding
at this point.
Oh, caca el toro! Here in SoCal, TW provides CBS 1080i60 frame
and NBC 1080i60 frame streams in the same "channel" 93 (as 93.1
and 93.2). So the bandwidth is there for 1080p60. It not
bandwidth, it's BUCKs.
However, Verizon FIOS has the potential bandwidth for 1080p.
Plus, MPEG-4 will become the new compression standard and it
vastly lowers bitrates compared to MPEG-2.
In the meantime, the superior quality of 1080p should boost
the sales of Blu-ray & HD-DVD into the stratosphere.....
.
