Re: 46" LCD for computer (Internet) use?

Viewing from about 9 to 11 feet away on center, I'm wondering how well
I'll be able to surf the net? Will I be able to read the fonts as
easily as I would when surfing the net from my regular computer monitor?

Shouldn't be a problem. If it is, just increase the minimum font size in
your browser setup.

Well, if that's the only way. I was hoping to be able to leave
settings alone.

In particular, I'm considering the Sony Bravia KDL-46S3000. This is
only a 1366 X 768 model. Should I assume I'll need a 1920X1080 in order
to read webpages from that distance?

No. The fonts would be smaller than on the 1366x768 set.:-)

I see what you mean. Howerver, it seems that if I was using 1920X1080
with bigger fonts then that would be easier to read.

Ideally, I would like to be able to run my current monitor and my new
HDTV in clone mode or otherwise be able to switch between the two with
relative ease. I'm successfully using the S-video to view the picture on
both my monitor and my current (old school) TV.

So, you're running your monitor at 640x480. Wow.

I don't mean to get side tracked, but no, I can change the setting on
the fly to point the video output to the TV only, the monitor only,
BOTH in dual mode or one off the other in "clone" mode. Basically
when I run in clone mode, it steps the monitor down to 1028x768 while
sending the TV the same picture.

My PC video card (Evga e-Geforce 7900 GTO) has dual DVI-I connectors and
has an integrated NVIDIA TV Encoder (HDTV,S-Video,composite- output).
For the best signal, which connector cable should I use and how long can
it be before the signal degrades?

Personally, I use the the standard vga connector to my HDTV with a default
res of 1280x720 that the tv upconverts to 1366x768. You sure don't want to
use the S-video or composite as neither of them support HDTV modes.

So if I run my PC monitor at 1366X768 and if things are readable
there, is it a safe assumption that that's what the HDTV will look
like? Then I just have to account for distance from the screen,
right? I have a CRT monitor.

Thanks for the advice Newell.
