HDMI

Hi All:

I hope that someone in this excellent group can answer my question.

I'm in the Greater Toronto Area, in Canada and Rogers Cable supplies
my tv feed.

I've just purchased a 42" Viewsonic HD LCD TV. Both the TV and digital
cable box have HDMI ports, but I'm not able to get a video or audio
signal to the TV from the box via HDMI. I'm fine with component.
Rogers tells me that the HDMI connection is not always compatible.

Are they giving me a line of bs, or is HDMI not that consistant.
