DVD/VHS OTA ATSC recorder questions

I am starting to see DVD/VHS recorders with ATSC DTV tuners. I need to move some old VHS tapes to DVD to edit and having only OTA I want to update my old VCR do I can record (at SD). Does the DVD/VHS recorder's ATSC tuner record BOTH to DVD and VHS. (I would use VHS tapes for day to day stuff I didn't want to keep, and DVDs for programs I want to keep)
