I'm considering the purchase of a 52" Sharp Aquos HDTV for the dualFirst thing you should do is to download the Sharp users manual to see what
purpose of PC monitor and HDTV. I need it to display Excell spread
sheets and for surfing the web. Is this feasible? Advisable? Is it
dependent on my PC? I've done some searches and am getting a little
discouraged that this is not the great idea I thought it was.
TIA for your consideration of my questions.
computer interfacing options are available. It should also list the
resolution and refresh rates supported. Likely you would have to set the
refresh rate to 60 Hz.
I believe the Sharp has a DVI input. It certainly has component inputs. So,
theoretically at least, all you would need is a video card with DVI output.
I would not bother getting a VGA to DVI converter; you will only end up
throwing it out. Using a DVI to HDMI conversion cable should be OK, though.
I am running DVI out from an ATI card to the digital input of an LG monitor,
works great. Much more stable than any analog setup. Unless you play really
funky games, a video card should not cost more than about $150. Biggest
problem might be finding a video card that does 1920 x 1080 resolution, or
close to it. If your PC is a laptop, probably the best you could do is to
use a VGA to component adapter
