I agree. I have no doubt that at some point in the future, they'll change the ratio again, just to sell more sets.

Not likely.........
16:9 is the almost perfect choice for the showing of the major ratios.
1.85:1 almost fills the screen.
1.33:1 uses almost 75% of the screen
2.35:1 uses almost 75% of the screen.

The next major move is to 2.35:1 screen with masking
and a FP system with anamorphic lense....
but that is likely way beyond you.....................
