Hi all,

I am attempting to hook a computer up to my old rear projection Sony
HDTV.
I ran an S-video cable from my video card to an available S-video input
on
the TV. I then go into desktop, Properties, Settings, I choose the 2nd
monitor (my TV) and then choose "Extend my windows desktop onto this
monitor". I do get output onto my TV, but it is constantly scrolling at
a
rate faster than is legible. I have tried different resolutons and they
all
do the same. Any ideas on how I can resolve this ?

Thank you,

Duke

That Sony has no VGA, DVI or HDMI inputs? Our Samsung has DVI and VGA.
Either works fine though I only use the DVI (duh).

GG

It only has coax, dvi, component, svideo and composite.

My ATI 9600 cards have DVI so I assume (dangerous thing to do) the
9800 has DVI as well. If so, why not use the DVI ? Or does that
require it to be the main monitor on the PC ? I cheat in that I have a
PC dedicated to the TV so I _want_ it to me the main monitor.

I've two outputs from the same ATI 9800 running on 32" LCD. Haven't
gotten HDMI working yet, (9800 has no HDMI connections) though have an
older 8500 with DVI. VGA and S-Video - so far both on the 9800. S-
Video is great (both outputs actively working at boot) for old DOS
modes the set won't handle from its VGA connection. VGA however is
vastly better quality in Windows. Think there's a software/default
boot sequence ATI EPROM selection, because the Window drivers kick it
into VGA output only. Probably a 9800 intended for non-simultaneous
display.

As to OP - refresh rates need be correct within the LCD set's specs.
Selected some old Thinkpad drivers, which work within the specs from
XP's display/driver properties.
