There is an area of discoloration in the picture on Sony 50" SXRD, it's
most noticeable against light backgrounds. If this was a conventional tube
I'd think that it needs degaussing, but my impression was that this type
of set has nothing to degauss. Anybody have an idea what might cause this?

Contact a Sony ASC. Depending on the model, Sony has extended the warranty
period on some SXRD units with this problem.
